St. Bernardus Abt 12 is considered one of the best beers in the world and, therefore, is the masterpiece of the brewery St. Bernardus, the absolute top in the hierarchy of their beers. The term Abt alludes to the monastery rung, the abbot. Like its "sisters", the St. Bernardus Prior 8 to the prior and the St. Bernardus Pater 6 to the fathers, third step of the monasteries. It is made in the classic style ‘Quadrupel’ according to the original recipe of 1946.
St. Bernardus Prior 8
[BOTTLE 33 CL]
Abbey beer, 10% alcohol, top fermented and with second fermentation in the bottle.
St
The St. Bernardus Abt is a dark beer, opaque, dense and powerful (10%), but not strong in flavor, softened by the special water of sweet characteristics and by the second fermentation in bottle that gives it a round and balanced body, improving as it matures a few years. Its complex aroma of roasted malts, caramel and herbs continues to evolve during consumption, depending on the temperature in the glass
The St. Bernardus Abt goes wonderfully well with a meal with red meat (steak or entrecote), stewed beef (tail) or lamb, blue cheeses and creamy raw milk. It also goes well with pastries prepared with strawberries and raspberries
