Tasting Note
An extraordinarily complex, balanced, and elegant wine. On the nose, it is opulent, complex, and intense, with predominant black fruit aromas well integrated with new wood notes, spice, and balsamic hints. On the palate, it is powerful, full-bodied, and very persistent, yet balanced and polished, with silky tannins and a long aftertaste.
Vintage Characteristics
A record year of rainfall with a total of 672 liters, especially during the first 4 months of 2018, with 6 occasions of snowfall. As a consequence of this cold and rainy spring, budbreak is delayed by at least three weeks. The summer is mild, with no heatwaves recorded, so veraison continues to be significantly delayed. This situation requires intensive thinning to ensure the ripening of the clusters. A slightly warmer than usual September allows for perfect ripening of the grapes, with harvesting taking place between October 12th and 18th.
