Made according to the principles of organic agriculture, this cava represents the winery's commitment to sustainable viticulture. Old vines, tradition, and a good concentration of nuances are the fundamental ingredients to achieve a cava ideal for purists: fresh and vigorous, but above all honest. It has been recognized as one of the best organic cavas of the Penedés.

Made in Spain Gourmet always offers the best of Spanish gastronomy.

Want to know more?

Vins El Cep is born from the union of four families of winegrowers and four estates. Producing unique high-quality wines and cavas since 1980, expressing the terroir. Located in els Costers de l'Anoia, in Can Llopart de les Alzines, they are pioneers in organic and biodynamic viticulture.

They strive to achieve the perfect balance between respect for nature and high quality in the winery. The vineyards are their heritage, the roots their landscape.

Technical Sheet

Winery: Own Vineyards, in Sant Sadurní de Noia (Barcelona), manual harvest. D.O. Penedés Alcohol content: 12% Variety: 45% Xarel·lo 25% Macabeu 15% Parellada 15% Chardonnay

Tasting notes: Elegant and persistent rosary. An expressive brut nature cava with high aromatic intensity, a very fresh and citrusy nose. Good texture in the mouth, fine and balanced. Very well integrated carbonic, a wine that shows good evolution in the mouth. Elegant, delicate, with a long and persistent finish.

Serving temperature: 6-8ºC

Elaboration: This cava comes from 3 old vineyards from the properties of Can Prats and Can Miquel de les Planes, and a Chardonnay vineyard from Can Castaño, all in San Lorenzo and Gélida, the Costers del Anoia. From these 15 ha. of organic vineyard, we obtain grapes with the optimal level of ripeness and acidity. Planting year: between 1958 and 1990. Training system: goblet for the old vines and trellis for the Chardonnay. Moderately deep, carbonated soils, with predominant textures of francolli-moses, well-structured, porous, and with frequent fauna activity. They are soils very suitable for viticulture that allow the full expression of the varietal character of the vines. Southwest orientation. Manual harvest. Quick and gravity-fed entry into the winery. Pressing at low pressure with a 50% flower must extraction, which represents the most elegant and subtle fraction of the must. Fermentation in small tanks at controlled temperature. Aging for over 24 months.

Pairing: appetizers, seafood, fish, foie gras.

At Made in Spain Gourmet, we believe it is excellent with Mediterranean rice dishes such as those from Dehesa de la Albufera (seafood paellas, brothy rice dishes) and fresh pasta with sautéed vegetables or porcini mushroom sauces.

Vins el Cep is a sustainable, responsible, and efficient winery.

Their Path

The Carreras, Esteve, Masana, and Parera families had a centuries-old experience, with a rooted agricultural tradition and a tradition of making wine in their country houses. Thus, in 1980 they began a joint project to produce wines and cavas that represent the identity of their terroirs.

Can Llopart de les Alzines, an estate dating back to 1499 and surrounded by vineyards, was chosen as the place to build their winery.

The soul of their project was - and always will be - those four friends and neighbors who ended up becoming partners. Gil Masana, Josep Carreras, Pere Parera, and Josep Esteve, who, starting from vocation, knowledge, and love for the land, knew how to lead it to this point.

Biodynamic: Pioneers and Convinced

Throughout their history, each generation has contributed their grain of sand, their advances, but also the insight to see and reflect. The experience they gain from this direct contact with the land led them, in 2000, to steer their agriculture towards organic farming. Shortly after, with the desire to continue improving at all levels, they decided to take a step further and apply
