The king of the orchards of Fresno de la Vega in León, this high-quality red bell pepper, special for roasting, with four lobes, bright color, with a weight per piece of 350 to 450 gr. This variety of peppers is among the most appreciated, for its tasty thick and turgid flesh, its sweet flavor, low acidity, and its large and striking size.
When buying it, don't worry if it's not completely red, in a few days it will acquire its characteristic red color, as they are manually harvested at their optimal ripening point.
Its use is very varied but generally eaten raw in salads, as an accompaniment to other dishes or as a dressing for main dishes, a very typical way of consuming them in León is to scald or "entrecallar" them, and season them with oil, vinegar, and salt, a wonderful warm salad.
The pepper has a significant caloric intake, lots of water, fiber, and almost no fats, so it can be consumed in weight loss diets, it contains vitamins E, A, B1, B2, B3, B6 and much more vitamin C than citrus fruits, especially the red varieties, minerals such as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and calcium, folic acid, carotenes, and beta carotenes.
