The La Galga Magnum Red Wine from Bodega La Galga presents this red wine from the Ribera del Duero D.O., made from 100% Tempranillo (Tinta del País) grape varieties.

Produced using the traditional method of the Ribera del Duero, this wine has undergone aging for 4 months in French oak barrels, which has provided it with a delicate evolution, contributing a subtle toasted note that is well integrated with the fruity character.

This wine is recommended to be served at a temperature of 14ºC.

Ribera del Duero D.O.

The Ribera del Duero is located in the great northern submeseta of the Iberian Peninsula, between Madrid, the Central System, the Cantabrian Mountains, and the Montes de León, covering 115 kilometers along the banks of the Duero River. It has horizontally leveled soils, gently undulating, limited by differential erosion, and currently transformed into penillanura. They are located at an altitude of between 720 and 1,100 meters and are composed of layers of sandy or clayey soils, with alternating layers of limestone and calcareous concretions, on which vines are rooted to offer the best fruit.

The climate of this region falls within a Mediterranean climate, characterized primarily by continental traits and extreme weather: dry summers, long and harsh winters, low precipitation (average of 400-500 mm/year), and a wide temperature range (from -20º to 42ºC). As a consequence, the grape quality is extraordinary, with small size, thick skin, and slow and late maturation.

The vineyards cover 24,157 hectares along the Ribera del Duero, divided into 40,215 plots where intentional low yields and highly nurtured production are pursued. Harvesting is mainly done manually (80%), which is a tradition in the Ribera del Duero region, where wineries and viticulturists prioritize grape quality over quantity.

The Tempranillo grape, also known in the region as Tinta del País or Tinto Fino, is the most widely cultivated variety, providing the characteristic color, aroma, and body to the red wines of the Ribera del Duero. To a lesser extent, other varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Garnacha Tinta are also cultivated. The main authorized white grape variety is Albillo Mayor.
