Clearspring's premium organic rice is ideal for making sushi and everyday rice dishes. This short grain rice is light and sticky, and remains soft after cooking. We have carefully selected this Selenio variety, as it shares the same characteristics as traditional Japanese rice.
Clearspring's organic sushi rice is perfect for creating delicious, perfectly cooked rice, ideal for Japan's most famous dish: sushi. The short grain Selenio rice has very similar characteristics to japonica rice used to make sushi in Japan. It is organically grown in the Piedmont region in Northwest Italy, an area also known for growing rice for risotto.
Once mature, the rice is perfectly polished by a miller located in the nearby town of Trino. By removing only the outermost layer of the rice grain (the hull), brown rice is produced. To produce white rice, the layers below the hull (bran and germ) are removed, leaving mainly the starchy endosperm.
We are pleased to offer you the first organic sushi rice grown in Europe.
