Vines, like people, often reach their peak in the face of adversity. This very limited Priorat wine is handcrafted from the fruit of hundred-year-old vines that struggle daily to survive in dense slate soils on steep slopes. Its fruit offers a unique mineral complexity that could not come from anywhere else in the world. The Carthusians first planted vines in Priorat in the 12th century (Priorat is the Catalan word for "priory").
Fermentation at controlled temperature. 19 months in French oak barrels.
Bright reddish purple color with opaque rim.
On the nose, fine and elegant aromatic expression. Black and red fruits, licorice, spices, forest herbs, menthol, and minerality. Great complexity, fresh and warm at the same time.
In the mouth, great aromatic expression, repeating the notes found on the nose. Fresh, fine, and elegant, with very smooth tannins. Voluminous wine with good structure and acidity. Very aromatic and persistent finish.
