Grape varieties
Tempranillo, also known in the region as Tinta del País or Tinto Fino, is our main variety, which gives color, aroma, and body to the red wines of Ribera del Duero. To a lesser extent, we also cultivate other varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, and Garnacha Tinta. The main authorized white grape variety is Albillo Mayor.
Tempranillo
Tempranillo grape provides wines with strong violet coloration. Aromas of blackberry stand out, combined with black forest fruits. Structured tannin with sweetness in overripeness, medium acidity.
Cabernet Sauvignon
It provides wines with high acidity, highlighting aromas of green pepper, which turn into black fruits when overripe. Pronounced tannin.
Merlot
Wine with medium acidity, highlighting aromas of black fruit combined with nuances of dried fruits. Medium tannin.
Malbec
Wine with high acidity, highlighting aromas of black fruit combined with menthol balsamic nuances. Medium tannin.
Garnacha Tinta
Aromatic wines dominated by ripe strawberry, with little color and medium acidity. Medium tannin. High oxidative potential.
Albillo Mayor
Aromatic wines dominated by stone and pome fruits, apple and peach, very subtle color, between pale straw yellow and pale steel. Medium acidity.
