Tasting notes: The wine shows an attractive and deep cherry color. The nose is fresh and complex, expressing aromas of forest fruits, blackberries, and plums, while also revealing notes of cocoa, vanilla, and a subtle toasted aroma, indicating aging in top quality oak. It is fresh on the palate and has a very well-integrated acidity. Pleasant and fascinating texture in the mouth with a long and persistent finish. Clean and fresh with great aging potential.

Serving temperature: 16º C

Geology and Soil: Clay-calcareous with alluvial soils at an altitude of 550 meters.

Production: In addition to the Torre Muga brand, the Prado Enea harvest is always the last to be brought to the winery and is selected from plots and lands located in the area of Villalba de Rioja, at the foot of the Montes Obarenes, facing south, a terroir of recognized high quality. The grape grains ferment in 100-hectoliter oak barrels without temperature control or the addition of yeasts. The maceration period is between 16 and 20 days. The wine ages for 12 months in 160-hectoliter American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 36 months in barrels, usually French oak. At the end of the aging period, the wine is lightly clarified with fresh egg whites before being bottled and stored in our cellars for at least another 36 months to complete the aging process.

Pairing: at Made in Spain Gourmet we recommend pairing it with stews, meat dishes, fish, and cheese, or even enjoying it on its own, without any accompaniment. With aged goat and sheep cheeses. Iberian cured meats. Acorn-fed ham.

In the event of a change in vintage, we will send the previous vintage until stocks last.

Muga's vineyards

Probably one of the terroirs that best defines the typicity of wines made in Haro. Its geological and climatic characteristics give the wines a marked personality with great aging potential, making it a unique location in La Rioja. Located a few kilometers from Haro, it is situated on a plateau with a very particular geological structure, to which we must add its fantastic protection from the cold winds of the north. In a few words, an exceptional vineyard. They are the first vineyards owned by the Muga family. The quality of their high-end wines lies in this paradisiacal location. Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano coexist in this vineyard to give us magnificent wines. This is an example of a family's work to ensure quality in the future. Muga is relentless in its efforts to continue investing in the best terroirs in the area. For our newly planted vineyards, we not only seek to recover the highest quality lands but also work to ensure that the selection of each and every one of our vines is the best, and that is why Muga plants its vineyards with our own selection of vines. These vineyards, located at the highest altitude in La Rioja, on the cultivation limit, produce wines with very good acidity and aging potential. Few wineries invest in such extreme areas, but our peculiar cultivation system allows us to produce wines of the highest quality and discover the potential of each of our vineyards.
