The addition of oats in the preparation of oatmeal stout is a style of beer rescued from oblivion by Samuel Smith in the 80s. It was very popular in the early 1800s and was discontinued before the First World War The Oatmeal Stout, formerly, were commonly consumed by nursing mothers as there was a belief that to contain oats was a nutritional contribution for babies.

Intense sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, nuts and spices
Oats, roasted malt and a very subtle bitterness, balanced with caramel, toasted bread and black fruits. Minimal dry finish from the hops
The mouthfeel is silky and extraordinarily complex
