The Ilurce Tempranillo Blanco White Wine is a unique expression made with the Tempranillo Blanco variety. This wine comes from two plots located in Alfaro, at different altitudes, with clay-loam soils characteristic of the area. The 2022 harvest was peculiar due to the extreme water stress from the previous year, which left the vines exhausted. During the vegetative rest period and spring, conditions were very dry, with only 140 mm of rain between October and May.
Summer brought freshness and abundant rainfall in June and July (130 mm in total), benefiting the vines with water reserves. However, the last two weeks of August were intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 35°C for two weeks, stressing the plants. This was followed by rains in early September, requiring further sampling in the vineyard and rigorous grape selection for harvest at the optimal moment.
The production of this white wine focuses on preserving the freshness of the variety. The grapes were harvested on August 17 in this vintage. Direct pressing of the grapes was carried out, followed by cold settling and fermentation at low temperature (15°C). Subsequently, the wine was aged on lees in concrete tanks for 5 months, with periodic battonages to enhance complexity and texture in the mouth.
This meticulous process has resulted in a fresh and aromatic Ilurce Tempranillo Blanco white wine, with a balanced structure and a distinctive note thanks to the unique climatic conditions that marked the 2022 harvest.
