The Valdebarón Red Wine from Grupo Bodegas Olarra presents this Red Wine from D.O.Ca Rioja (Spain) made with the varieties of Mazuelo and Tempranillo.
Aging
This Valdebarón Red Wine has an aging process in which it previously underwent malolactic fermentation in new American and French oak barrels, and aged for 18 months for 5 years. Subsequently, it continued with bottle aging for several months.
Production
The grape varieties used to make this wine come from vineyards with shallow soils of ocher sandstone on the northeast slopes of Viana. At the same time, it has controlled water stress, which results in small-grained clusters that are allowed to ripen to their optimal point. These grape varieties, Tempranillo and Mazuelo, once in the winery and previously selected, undergo a maceration and fermentation process for 18 days at a controlled temperature.
Bodegas Ondarre
Bodegas Ondarre aims to produce wines that express the terroir, wines with a clear mark of the municipality of Viana. This typicity or personality is defined by the diversity of soils and the distribution of small and old vineyards located on the slopes that ascend towards the Sierra.
Viana is an area with a rich winemaking tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. According to records, there is cartographic evidence that many of the vineyards of Bodegas Ondarre of the Mazuelo and Tempranillo varieties have been planted for over 70 years, which contributes to the wines' uniqueness and personality.
These vineyards have low yields and the grapes are carefully cared for and selected, as this is the only way to achieve wines that reflect and express the terroir through climate, soil, and human work.
